The next step after you resign your job is finding what to do with all the time in the world. It’s interesting how prior to resigning, you can spend all day visualizing what you’ll do with your new found unbusiness, but when you eventually get all the time on your hands, it’s not exactly how you imagined it to be. The first week after resignation from work had me coming awake super early in the mornings in panic. Who am I now? What do I stand for now? What is my new identity without a place to go to everyday? Slowly however, I started to write out my goals. What are the things I’ve always wanted to do? More reading? More writing? More sleep? More cooking? More time in the world with nothing to do with it? And I realized that sometimes life is a trap. And we are our worst enemies. We can build our lives and our identities around one thing, so that when that thing no longer exists, it is as if our core selves as well no longer exist as well, or maybe it’s buried so far deep in the ground, that we have to dig and find who we really are when you strip away all the fancy titles.
And so January and February 2018 has really been a time for self-discovery; for finding myself, finding who I was meant to be.
Here’s to new days and staying open in this rediscovery.
